I got my start in advertising a decade ago, working with an old school CD who preached two things: push the client out of their comfort zone, and push ideas that make people feel something. Today, it seems like most agencies would rather just push manifestos than good ideas. Content gets reduced to TVC cutdowns or chases after “viral” with a Gen-Z’er and an iPhone - that’s okay, but it doesn’t move the needle long-term.
